About Me

I’m Katherine Ball, a student of psychology and Italian at Wesleyan University, originally from Santa Barbara, CA, and I’ve loved music for a long time—since I was a little kid sitting on the living room floor listening to the Mamma Mia soundtrack over and over again with my brother. I performed in everything I could get my hands on in my hometown, and by the time I graduated high school, my roles included Miss Honey in Matilda, Cosette in Les Miserables, Mother Abbess in The Sound of Music, Bea in Something Rotten, and both Cinderella and the Witch in Into the Woods (my favorite). I sang in the Fall, Winter, and Baroque Festivals, organized by the Music Teachers’ Association of California, and I completed Certificate of Merit up to level 7 with State Honors.

In college, I sing in two a cappella groups: The Mixolydians (choral/chamber/multiple languages, where I lead the upper voices), and Triple Major (R&B/pop, and it’s a competition group that competes at the ICCAs, just like in Pitch Perfect!). I have arranged multiple songs for Triple Major, acted as a choreographer, and soloed at the ICCAs. Every semester, I sing with two other students at our school’s “Cabaret,” where students can sing songs from musical theatre. So far, we’ve performed “Nothing Changes” and “When the Chips Are Down” from Hadestown and “Mame Who Bore Me” from Spring Awakening. I also performed in a semi-staged musical that was written and directed as a senior thesis last year, which was a blast, and I’m always on the lookout for shows that I can try to fit into my schedule. :)
